Review: Plato Video Converter is an application which enables you to encode video files between various formats, including AVI, 3GP, WMV and MOV. The interface of the application is pretty easy to navigate through. You can import videos into the queue via the file browser only, because the drag and drop method is not supported. Batch processing is allowed. In the list you can check out the path, begin and end time, along with the output and progress of each source video. So, all you have to do is set the output path and extension, in order to initiate the conversion process. In addition, you can configure audio and video settings when it comes to size, bit rate, frame rate, aspect ratio, sample frequency rate, volume, channels, and others. But you can also preview the clip and cut it by marking the start and end point, as well as enable Plato Video Converter to automatically turn off the computer when the tasks finish. The video converter takes up a moderate amount of system resources and quickly finishes an encoding job without freezing, crashing or popping up errors. The image and sound are generally maintained at a pretty good quality in the output videos. But in our case, Plato Video Converter failed to convert the image of a video (it just displayed a black screen while the sound kept playing) in an AVI-to-WMV encoding task. Also, there is no help file available. All in all, Plato Video Converter is a pretty decent software for video conversions but we recommend it with reservations. |
